What is Hybrid Press Brake ?

Baykal hybrid press brake combines the best features of hydraulic and electric press brakes to achieve higher efficiency, precision, and energy savings. It uses servo-driven hydraulic technology, meaning it retains the high tonnage of hydraulic press brakes while offering energy efficiency and speed similar to electric models.

How It Works?

CNC Control & Programming
  • The operator inputs bending parameters (angle, material thickness, bend length) into the CNC controller.
  • The system calculates the required force, punch movement, and bend sequence.
Servo-Driven Hydraulic Activation
  • Unlike traditional hydraulic press brakes, which use a continuously running hydraulic pump, hybrid models use servo motors to drive hydraulic pumps on demand.
  • When bending is needed, the servo motor activates, pressurizing the hydraulic oil to move the cylinders.
  • When no force is required, the servo motor stops, reducing energy consumption.
Sheet Metal Bending
  • The servo-controlled hydraulic cylinders move the ram (upper beam) downward, pressing the punch onto the sheet metal against the die.
  • The combination of servo technology and hydraulic power ensures smooth and precise bending.
Return Stroke & Energy Recovery
  • Once the bending is complete, the servo motor reverses, allowing the hydraulic system to lift the ram back to its starting position.
  • Some hybrid models also have energy recovery systems, further increasing efficiency.

Advantages of Hybrid Press Brakes

  • Energy Efficient – Uses up to 50% less energy than conventional hydraulic press brakes.
  • High Precision – Servo-driven technology ensures accurate bending and repeatability.
  • Fast Operation – Faster than hydraulic press brakes but slightly slower than full-electric models.
  • Lower Maintenance – Fewer hydraulic components in use, meaning less oil consumption and maintenance.
  • Eco-Friendly – Reduces oil waste and energy consumption, making it a more sustainable choice.
